Dog sitting again

February 5, 2011

Let’s hope my sister doesn’t get stuck in another land this time. At the moment she’s in Puerto Rico, soaking in the 80-degree weather sans humidity. So far Jack has been superb, with one exception. I won’t get into the messy details of that incident, but I will focus on the good stuff. He let me sleep in (a change from last time I watched him), he hasn’t barked (another change), and he continues to be extremely loving and playful. Here are some pictures I took this morning:

Gotta love the tongue!

So cute!

In between fetching toys

Checking out the toys in his bed

Up-the-nose shot (I'm so mean! haha)

He turns 2 years old tomorrow! I think doggy ice cream is in store!

European volcanic ash impacts Watertown resident

April 20, 2010

Haha, I thought I would write my blog post’s title as a typical newspaper headline.

So, yeah, I have been pretty affected by the volcanic ash in Europe. I mean, not as much as some people, but certainly in my own way.

My sister is visiting Ireland with her boyfriend, and is probably stuck there until Saturday. That’s a week later than she had planned on coming home.

This delay means I am stuck in Natick, Mass. for another week, dog sitting. Don’t get me wrong, I love Jack (her chihuahua), and love having a place to myself (normally I have roommates, as nice as they are). But gosh there are way too many strip malls around here. And watching a dog is hard work!

The toughest part, I would say, is having to take out the dog first thing in the morning. Because my sister lives on the fifth floor of an apartment complex, I must go down the elevator, down the hallway, and out to some green space on the side of the building.

It doesn’t take too much time to get there, but it’s so tough first thing in the morning. Ideally, when I get up the first thing I do is make my breakfast and eat it. It puts me in such a better mood.

But when I have to walk the dog first, that also involves getting dressed before eating. Call me selfish, but all this pre-breakfast work is tough!

Other than that I really shouldn’t complain. But I will be ready to go back to Watertown when the ash has subsided.

New shirt, new dog

April 13, 2010

This past weekend I went to Syracuse, NY to visit family and friends. One of the highlights of the weekend was buying this retro Syracuse Chiefs t-shirt:

My new Syracuse Chiefs shirt

I love the shirt so much, and am wearing it for the second day in a row!

In other news, this week I am dog sitting Jack, my sister’s dog. He’s a 1-year-old black and white chihuahua.

I took these pictures of him this morning:

Jack the chihuahua

Jack doing the Michael Jordan

As you can see from the second picture, he has a strong resemblance to Michael Jordan. Maybe he’ll be good at basketball one day.

Anyway, Jack is so so so cute. In addition to his good looks, he’s the most sociable and well behaved dog you’ll meet. As I type he is calmly sitting on my lap. One of his favorite things to do is lick your hand. He also likes to sleep at your feet, be scratched behind his ears and on his belly, and lie in the sun.
