Love this hockey statue

I’m not a hockey fan, but I love this statue in front of TD Garden in downtown Boston:

It is made of bronze, and depicts Bobby Orr’s Stanley Cup-winning goal in 1970 (he played for the Boston Bruins). Apparently the statue was just unveiled a couple of months ago.

I just love the action that it portrays!!!

Elephant & Castle Pub and Restaurant: Overall good experience

castleA friend and I ate at the Elephant & Castle Pub and Restaurant in downtown Boston last night. Overall it was a good experience. The appetizers were delicious. We took advantage of the three appetizers for $16 special, and ordered bruschetta, chicken kabobs and pot stickers.

By far my favorite appetizer was pot stickers, or Chinese dumplings containing seasoned pork, vegetables and a sweet chili sauce. A bite of one of these, along with a swig of Smithwick’s Irish ale, seems to make everything right in this world. While my friend and I were waiting for our meals, we agreed to participate in a Scotch whiskey tasting sponsored by Dewar’s, a brand of Scotch whiskey. (more…)
